The United States of America, colloquially known as the United States, the USA, the US, and America; is a sovereign state located in eastern North America. The United States is bordered by Borealia and Canada to the north, Acadia to the east, Cascida and Texas to the west, and a maritime border with Cuba and the Bahamas in the Caribbean.

Originally part of the British Empire, the Thirteen Colonies declared independence in 1776, later to establish a federation between them. From their original claims, the US expanded to purchase Louisiana from France in 1804 (minus New Orleans), annex Upper Canada in 1845, annex several islands in the Caribbean during the later-half of the 19th century, and annexing Panama in the early 1900s.

After World War II, the United States emerged as one of the predominant superpowers (along with the Soviet Union). Today, the US has one of the largest economies and armed forces of the world.

The United States is the fourth-largest country by total area and third largest by population. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries. The geography and climate of the United States is also extremely diverse, and it is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The United States has the world's largest national economy and being the world's foremost economic and military power, a prominent political and cultural force, and a leader in scientific research and technological innovation. The United States is a federation made up of 45 states spanning from the continental 41 to the four in the Caribbean Sea. The US also includes several unincorporated territories (mostly in the Pacific and the Arctic).
