The MDA F-50 Lynx is a single-seat and single-engined 4.5th generation multirole fighters designed by Acrean aerospace firm MDA Luftraumsystemet AB for the Imperial Shalumite Air Force. The aircraft was designed in the mid-2010s to serve as a frontline 5th generation fighter for the Shalumite military. The first batch of 12 aircraft were produced in Acrea, but since 2021 production and assembly of the aircraft is done in MDA manufacturing plants in Shalum.
The F-50 uses many design features characteristic of Acrean 5th generation fighters, including advanced variable flight control systems, sensors and on-board computer systems, and emphasis on its software and networking capabilities. However, designed as an economic 4.5th generation fighter it possesses several limitations, such as a very small internal weapons bay meaning that it carries weapons externally as standard.
