The 1936 Central Shaneville Presidential election was held on the 9 October 1936. John Tait and the Conservative Party were in the incumbent president and party respectively following their minority victory in 1932.
John Tait's first term as President in the Conservative minority government is promising and successful, the economy is growing and welfare reform is passed leading to a decreased amount of poor people, for the 1936 election, Tait runs for a second term whilst George Hargrave also runs again for the NWA, the Liberal nomination is once again William Griesinger whilst the Progressives go for a last ditch attempt at keeping afloat nominating Thomas Valentine.
Pre-election, the predictions are that Tait will win a second term with a minority government, he would be the first President since Liberals' Ben Murker in 1916 and 1920.
At the end of the election, George Hargrave's 1936 vision was realized and after their 2nd place finish in 1932, Hargrave captured the Presidency with a minority - only 6 seats away from a majority.
The Liberals suffered their worst defeat only getting 5 seats.
