John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr. (born November 25, 1960), also referred to by his initials RFK often referred to as John-John or JFK Jr. is an American lawyer, journalist, magazine publisher, and politician who is the 43rd and current President of the United States. A member of the Democratic Party and the prominent Kennedy family, he first served as the 54th Governor of New York, succeeding the Republican incumbent, George Pataki. Then, in 2006, he was elected to the U.S. Senate as a senator from New York, having successfully unseated the previous Democratic officeholder, Hillary Clinton. Eventually, in 2020, he successfully ran for president on a unity ticket with the Republican governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan. To date, he is the fourth member of the Kennedy family to be elected into the presidency, after his father, John, and his uncles, Robert and Edward, and the first elected president who is a child of a previous officeholder. As a result, he is sometimes nicknamed "the American Trudeau", due to both him and the Canadian prime minister being elected officeholders whom are direct descendants of a previous officeholder, namely Pierre Trudeau, who was the 15th Prime Minister of Canada and father to Justin Trudeau himself.

From his childhood years at the White House, Kennedy was heavily covered by media, and later became a popular social figure in Manhattan. Trained as a lawyer, he worked as a New York City assistant district attorney for almost four years. In 1995, Kennedy launched George magazine, using his political and celebrity status to publicize it.
