The Democratic States of Pekastan, most commonly known as Pekastan, is a nation on planet Iearth located on the continent of Ausiana, bordered by Jaginistan and Beleroskov. It has a population of 9.8 million people, largely confined to isolated villages in the steppe and mountainous regions of the country's geography. Mountains cover more than 90% of the country. From 1914 until 1999 Pekastan was part of the United Communist and Socialist States. The country has been led by President Turki el-Irani since 1999 who rules an authoritarian regime, as there is extensive corruption and widespread violations of human rights, including torture, arbitrary imprisonment, worsening political repression, and a lack of religious freedom and other civil liberties. The country also suffers from poverty, illiteracy, corruption and terrorism.
It is a developing country with a transition economy that is highly dependent on remittances, aluminum and cotton production. Pekastan is a member of the Coalition of Crown Albatross, Coalition Trade Organization, and TIDI.
