Constantine (Constantine Judea Harold; 10 October 1958 – 12 June 2021) was King of Cordonia from his accession on 24 March 1977 until his voluntary abdication on 19 May 2021. His reign of 44 years and 82 days was the longest of any monarch from the House of Ryan and the third-longest of any Cordonian monarch.

Constantine was born at the Cordonian Royal Palace, in the capital of Cordonia, as the first son of the Prince and Princess of Cordonia (later King Dirk II and Queen Abigail). His father ascended the throne upon the death of his father King Dirk I, making Constantine the heir apparent. He was educated at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in Cranwell, England and was created Prince of Cordonia on his 18th birthday in 1976. His father would later die five months later in March 1977 and Constantine–then 18 years old–became the king of Cordonia.[a]

As king, Constantine was a bachelor until he met Princess Matilda of Monacco in February 1981 and they became engaged on 24 March 1981. The couple would later marry on 13 August 1981 and Matilda became queen consort. They had one son, Prince Leonardo of Cordonia (later the Duke of Moselle).

On 19 May 2021, Constantine voluntarily abdicated the throne to his son, King Liam, so that he could retire and for Liam to start his reign younger than many other Cordonian monarchs. He elected to become King Constantine The King Father. He would later die in June 2021 as a result of the collapse of the Cordonian Place during the 2021 Cordonian attempted coup d'état by the Sons of Earth and led by Anton Severus.

Notes

  1. The Constitution of Cordonia stipulates that one must be age 20 or older to exercise power as monarch; therefore, Constantine's mother Queen Abigail was queen regent for nearly 20 months until he turned 20 in October 1978. In reality, Queen Abigail did not assert her own authority and let Constantine exercise his power as king through her as a proxy.
