Archibald Laurence Kristin Kitagawa (18 May 2019) is a Lucian officer currently serving in the Lucis Army as part of Task Force 141 as part of Detachment K. Archibald is the first son of Naoto Kitagawa and Akiko Sugiyama. His name is given by his great-grandmother, Tsukuyo Kushineda. He is named after 2 EWII generals, namely his great-grandfather, Field Marshal Archibald Sugiyama and Erebonian General Karl L.K. Arseid.
Archibald is the first of Kiriya and Aurelia's grandchildren. While it was not expected that Naoto would be the first of his siblings to have children, Kiriya and Aurelia would grant their blessing to Naoto. He is nicknamed "Archie" by Kushineda and doted on him as he was young. He is very affable yet quiet and often an introvert. He prefers reading books and often loves to keep the company of his great-grandmother. He is the elder brother of Charlotte Kitagawa, who is his complete opposite.
Early Life
Military Career
Following his graduation from the University of St. Georgius, Archibald enlisted in the Lucis Army, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Archibald was known for his reserved personality, hence his fellow troopers often picked at him. However, Archibald was often unpredictable, such when he planted blank bullets during a shooting competition in his unit, causing his fellow battalion members to pick at him even more. However, his commanding officers noted his skill at using a bolt-action rifle, being able to do a mad minute and firing 40 shots in under 1 minute.
From that point on, Archibald earned the respect of his fellow members and stopped picking on him. However, Archibald remained cold towards his battalion members as he didn't want them to interfere in his activities and hobbies. His commanding officers often noted that "He was the type of person who'd steal your apples even when you're looking at your basket". Because of this, he was given a commission as an officer and rose to the rank of Sergeant early compared to his peers. He was later on regarded as one of the most feared and respected officers.
His grandfather, Kiriya Kitagawa admitted him to Task Force 141 in 2044 and served as a non-commissioned officer under Detachment K. Here, Archibald was welcomed warmly by his peers and he returned the same feeling. Archibald was deployed to the frontlines as during this time, the Deseleni War was taking place. When not with his friends at his detachment, he served as a suboordinate to his father. Here, Archibald would learn the art of tactics and strategies. He was taught not only by his father, but also by his grandfather. He created an extremely close bond with his grandfather, who regarded him as His greatest life sensei. From him, he developed a concealed and calculating personality with a thought of not easily trusting people. He also learned to be watchful of people around him and keeping his enemies closer than his friends.
As the war developed, he would be assigned under his uncle, Yamato Kitagawa, who is known in TF 141 for having a cold and ruthless demeanour against his enemies. He would learn from his uncle not to let his enemies get a chance. Archibald's personality would change overtime as he aged in the force. Once a reserved man with nothing to say, to an unreadable cold calculating man who can't easily be swayed. During the events of Case Silver, his wife, Elizabeth Magbaredge was severely wounded and was close to succumbing to her wounds. But she was revived by Erebonian paramedics and immediately given treatment. However, the events drove Archibald to an intense emotion of anger. He decided to the Sasso Alpine Mountains without any permission, making him go AWOL but without intention to desert. A close friend of Archibald flew him to Rumania, where he took a cab to Hotel Gandia, where the summit would take place. Archibald was relieved to know that the hotel would be raided at the same time as his grandfather had plans to assassinate Harold Shepherd Roth, and that he can only focus on the officer who shot his wife.
Archibald snuck inside the room, where the Selucid officer was with his younger son. He overhears that the son had passed his medical school examination and he opted to ruin the moment. He also removed the magazines on their guns that they left in the room. When the pair got back, they were surprised to find Archibald sitting and holding them at a gunpoint. He would come to introduce himself as the husband who the officer shot his wife close to death. The father and son would attempt to fight back only to find that Archibald had their guns unloaded. Archibald's ruthlessness would come when he wrote a letter a "Daddy was a great soldier." letter and gave it immediately to the bell man, who was unaware of what would happen. After the raid began, He wanted to further make the officer feel guilty of what he did. Archibald executed his son first, sending the father into a deep sadness before he would execute the father. He was found by Richard Philip Todd and his team putting bullets on the officer but was eventually stopped by him.
Here, his peers saw that Archibald had developed a ruthless and cold personality that surpassed his uncle, and a calculating and unreadable personality that surpassed both his father and grandfather. He was never court-martialed nor accused of desertion as his father saw that he had indeed played a part in the raid.
Personal Life
Outside of this, Archibald would find romance with Elizabeth Magbaredge, the daughter of Darzana Magbaredge, his father's close friend. Archibald would be instantly attracted to Elizabeth when he first entered in the task force in 2044. Archibald described her as A Woman comparable to a garden of tulips. However, Archibald would fear that his own personality would cause Elizabeth to distance herself from him. However, to his surprise, it was the exact opposite. Elizabeth would find Archibald interesting, especially his silent demeanour, which she finds cute. Archibald and Elizabeth would grow to be close and later, the two would start a relationship under approval from both his father and Darzana. He assured everyone that he wouldn't show his bad side towards her.
In 2046, after Darzana granted her blessing to him, Archibald proposed to Elizabeth, which she accepted. They were married in 2047, making him the first male Task Force 141 member of his generation to be married. His close friend, Briston Ichika Todd would only follow near the end of the war. Archibald and Elizabeth would have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. Their children's names were Michael, Kaoru Henry, Akina, and Shizuku May.
