The national flag of Maregua (Avañe'e: bandera de Abádeyvy) is one of the national symbols of Maregua. The design is a A horizontal triband consisting of a green, a gold and a blue band. Adopted in 1985, however the colours flown now have been the same since the year following the 1939 World Cup when they changed them after realising they had a flag almost identical to that of Telekia.
Description
While officially adopted in 1985, in it's current form, green gold and blue has been representative of the Mareguan people officially since 1940 however the colours were used by the prodominent Avañe'e people for centuries before that, dating back to Lecirian occupation when green, gold and blue were used as a symbol of Mareguan traditionalism. For this reason, when a new flag was being debated following the 1939 World Cup (when Maregua realised they shared an identical flag to Telekia) the three colours were chosen as they represent the majority people group as well as indigenous Mareguan groups generally.
As well as this, the monarchy had been using the colours as well since foundation, as members of the Avañe'e people group. The new flag was very well recieved, coming in a time of immense Mareguan Nationalism that saw returning to indigenous roots.
