Arsis, officially the Directorate of Arsis, is a nation in western Mars. It is bordered by Limpus to the northwest and Unincorporated Mars to the north, east, south, and west.

Arsis ranks moderately high for civil liberties and moderately for political freedom. Arsis is a mining nation with a history of poor civil liberties, however Arsis has improved greatly. In 2906, Arsis removed the federal system, which had caused mini-dictatorships to spring up all over the country. After this, a more centralised police force ensured proper respect for laws and the central government had freer elections along with more direct control over the country.

Arsis mainly produces mined products, including valuable minerals, stone, and soil. In the eastern regions, a successful isolated terraformed lake was built. This technology has caused a “Race to Mars” and a moderate cold war on Mars and among the powerful nations of Earth. Arsis has also started a manufacturing market to provide products for Mars made on Mars. Before Arasis began manufacturing, approximately 80-90% of products sold on Mars had to be imported from Earth or the Federation of Sol. It is expected that Arsis will become Mars’s largest economy in the future.

Etymology

Arsis is derived from Tharsis, an old name of the area containing three major Martian volcanoes, Acrus, Pavon, and Arsa, and surrounding plains. Same claim it was named after a biblical land, however there is not substantial proof of this.
