Ellesean is a language which is classified as an isolate, having no known relatives in any other languages. It can officially be written in the Cyrillic Alphabet only, although the government also provides an official transcription into the Latin script for foreign use.

It is mostly spoken in Ellese, where it is the native language of 6.8 million people, but is also spoken by around 800,000 Elleseans in Russia and in other countries, as part of the Ellesean diaspora.
