The 1978 World Cup, also called the 1978 Tregueux World Cup, was an international football tournament contested by men's national teams which took place between 9 April to 16 April, 1978 in Tregueux, Zamastan. It was the sixth World Cup, a worldwide football tournament held once every year. The tournament phase involved 32 teams, of which all came through qualifying competitions at the start of the event from an original 64 national teams. At the time, it was one of the most watched sporting events in the history of the world.

31 national teams advanced through qualification competitions to join the host nation in the final tournament, with a total of 64 matches played. New Elkland defeated Norlansia 2-0 in the final, while Eserrei defeated Unified Sera 2-1 for third place. Zamastan was knocked out of the tournament in the quarter-finals by Unified Sera.

The tournament was widely boycotted by the UCSS and its allies as tensions brewed with Zamastan during the Cold War. Zamastan and its allies had previously boycotted the 1976 Koyevka World Cup.
