The 2020 Revelstroke shooting was a mass shooting which occurred on August 8th, 2020, at a mall in Revelstroke, Pahl, Zamastan. The perpetrator, an 18-year-old white nationalist named Garlin Gouerden, shot and killed 20 people and injured 12 others before surrendering to police. It is the third-deadliest mass shooting in Zamastan's history, only surpassed by the 2019 Arinals shooting and the 10/18 attacks. The attack was investigated by the ZIS as a hate crime, as Gouerden had posted a manifesto with white nationalist and anti-immigrant themes and the majority of the victims were of East Chanchajillan or Parabocan background.

The shooting came almost a year to the day after Congressional Hall and President Anya Bishop enacted a ban on semi-automatic rifles. The massacre was the 3rd mass shooting after the ban was enacted, but its magnitude prompted calls for further firearms restrictions. President Foley Sakzi signed an executive order in the days following which instituted a mandatory month-long waiting period for gun purchases. Gouerden became the first person since Samuel Kannit to be sentenced to death in Zamastan, though the Supreme Court reverted the sentence to life imprisonment.

Shooting

The shooting occurred at a ZeeMart on the east side of Revelstroke. Gouerden walked into the store carrying a 5-40, a semi-automatic civilian version of the Z5-410, and opened fire just before 10:40 a.m.

The store manager witnessed Gouerden firing in the parking lot prior to entering the crowded store. He called police, designating an active shooter, and warned his employees who began helping customers evacuate or hide. Many customers and employees fled to other stores in the adjacent mall or hid under tables. First responders began to arrive within two minutes of the initial emergency call.

After the shooting, Gouerden ran out a back door of the store and sat beneath a tree, where he identified himself as the shooter and surrendered to police.
