FIHK seasons

The 2021–22 FIHK season is the 82nd season of the Federal Ice Hockey League. There were 26 teams and 60 games played overall. The season began on 4 September 2021 and will end on 20 April 2022. The finals will be held on 20 April 2022 between Noardwâl Wottested and Súdwâl Wottested.

Season changes

All 26 teams from the 2020–21 season will return for the 2021-22 season. Wolvegea's disqualification since the 2018-19 season will be continued until the 2022–23 season after the club once again failed to enact the proposed structural changes ordered by the FIHK.

Teams

There will be 26 teams in total for the 2021-22 season. This season will be the last season to not use a division system to divide teams which was agreed upon in the aftermath of the 2018-19 season.

Each team is to play a minimum of 50 games each, playing every other team at least twice at home and away. The top 16 teams in terms of wins during regulation time or overtime and shootout wins will advance to the playoffs.
