The 26th Congress of the Liberationist Party of Namor was held from November 9 to November 12, NMR 2373 to elect members of the Central Committee of the Liberationist Party of Namor as well as the Secretary-General and presidential nominee.
Due to the retirement of Secretary-General Txo Antelope, the congress was significant in that it would elect a successor to the outgoing leader.
Secretary-General election
Central Council deputy Antelope Shohai ran for secretaryship. He was readily endorsed by his father Txo Antelope, who said Shohai "has what it takes to unify the party and return it to the mainstream of Namorese politics."
Antelope's candidacy was followed by that of Shanpei legislator Su Rongyun, the first woman to run for party leadership. Su accused the Antelope family of attempting to foster a political dynasty within the party, saying "what Liberationists everywhere need is an assertive leadership, not one established upon blood ties." Txotai Head of State Vang Jun followed suit, claiming that both Antelope and Su are incapable of "revitalizing" the Liberationists.
Txo Antelope responded to allegations of nepotism that "I endorsed Shohai not out of consideration for family, but because I truly believe he can bring us forward and together." Antelope Shohai accused rivals of "focusing on superficial issues" and urged voters to "think about the children because they do not deserve to be brought up by Fu Wen."
During the Congress, 57 of the 87 members of the Central Committee voted for Antelope, whereas 22 voted for Su and 8 voted for Vang. Despite this, all three candidates were elected to the Politburo and both Antelope and Su were elected to the Politburo Standing Committee. The Liberationists subsequently named Antelope their presidential nominee.
