Akashi Business Federation

The Akashi Business Federation (Miranian: 明石経済団体連合会 Akashi Keizai-dantai Rengōkai; Gothic: 𐌰ᚴ𐌰𐍊𐌴 ᚴ𐌰𐌿𐍀𐍉𐌽𐌾𐌰𐌽𐍃 𐌲𐌰𐍆𐌰𐌿𐍂𐌳𐍃 Akaśe Kaupōnjans Gafaurds), commonly known as the Keidanren (経団連) or Kauga (ᚴ𐌰𐌿𐌲𐌰), is Akashi's national employers' organisation. It is a significant organisation in the Akashian economy.

History

It was founded in 1941, after the Akashian Civil War.

Between the 1940s and 1970s, it grew into a key collaborator with the government's social corporatist policies, executing state directions in the "centrally planned capitalism" system. However, it also came to be associated largely with big business, causing tensions with the Kyōkuren.

During the "siege economy" and "war against business" years, a faction emerged that rebelled against the Yurikaran consensus and sought radical free market policies. This faction's collusion with the neoliberal conspiracy badly tarnished the Keidanren's image, and it was further weakened by Shinobu Furukawa's left-wing, anti-big business economic policies.

Organisation

It is a federation of employers' organisations. Members elect a national council, which in turn elects the Keidanren executive board and supervisory board.

It takes part in tripartite negotiations with the Sōhyō and the government. There is a history of bad blood between the Keidanren and Kyōkuren, although the Keidanren has made efforts since the 2000s to improve relations.

Politics

It is generally aligned with centre-right parties, particularly the Moderate People's Party and United Reform Party.
