A presidential election was held in Akashi on 25 June 1955.

Incumbent Yurika Ehara won re-election, with a slightly decreased majority. This was the second of two elections in which the Workers' Party nominated a separate candidate, affecting the Communist Party's vote. It was also the first presidential election with an electoral alliance, where the National Democratic Party and Liberal Party jointly endorsed the same candidate.
