Template:Cheirol Royal Family Astrid II (real name Diane Ghyslaine Marie), born 19 May 1999) is Queen of Cheirol. Being born in 1999, she is one of the worlds's youngest monarchs.
Born into the House of Bonnet, a cadet branch of the House of Daniel, Astrid is the eldest child of Ronan IV of Cheirol and Lizabeth Townsend. She became heir presumptive to her grandfather in 2013, when her father, then heir presumptive, passed away due to a stroke. Astrid succeeded her grandfather upon his abdication due to his age on 10 October 2019. On her accession, she became the first female monarch of Cheirol since Astrid I, who was assassinated only two years into her reign in 1887.
Astrid II is known for her strong ecological passion and is considered a champion for enviromental protection, urging law makers to dedicate more land in the country to protecting habitats. She is also known for dedicating time and effort to assist international charities seeking to elimate poverty around the multiverse.
Early life
Princess Astrid was born 19 May 1999 at Bonnet Palace, in her parents' residence at the Delacroix palace complex, the principal residence of the Cheirol royal family in the district of Bonnet Gardens in central Delacroix. She was born a twin, beating her brother Prince Dennis, by only ten minutes to be first born. She was the first child of the Prince Ronan IV. Her father was the elder son of the then-reigning Ronan III, while her mother was not a royal, but commoner Lizabeth Ulrich.
She choose the Regal title Astrid after her late paternal great-great-great-great-grandmother, Astrid I, and named Diane after her paternal grandmother, Queen Diane of Cheirol, and Ghyslaine after her mathernal grandmother.
When Astrid was nine years old, in 2008, her younger sister Princess Alli was born. Princess Alli still lives with her mother Princess Lizabeth at the palace complex.
Astrid and her siblings grew up in the palace complex in Delacroix and in Townsend House in Saint Emile. She spent winter holidays with the royal family in her parents' winter residence at Alexandria House in Cartier. On 23 October 2013, Prince Ronan IV died and Astrid's became the heir apparent. She succeeded her grandfather, Ronan III, when he resigned due to age and poor health, on 10 October 2019.
To her family and close friends, Astrid is known affectionately as "Layla."
Education
Astrid was educated at Royal Gardens Charter School in Delacriox, from which she graduated in 2017. She then enrolled the University of Delacroix, and earned a bachelors degree in 2021 in Enviromental Science. She was also awarded an honorary degree in International Relations from the University of Cheirol in 2022
Astrid is fluent in French, and English, and has a limited knowledge of Finnish and Spanish.
Marriage and children
During Queen Atrid's time at the University of Delacroix, she met classmate Troy Marie. They annouced their engagement on 14 May 2020, and were married on 22 April 2021. They presently have no children, but do have a mini schnazuer named Pheobe.
Reign
The Queen's main tasks are to represent the Kingdom abroad and to be a unifying figure at home. She performs the latter by opening exhibitions, attending anniversaries and inaugurating bridges, among other things. She receives foreign ambassadors, awards, honours and medals.
As an unelected public official, the Queen takes no part in party politics and does not express any political opinions. Although she has the right to vote, she opts not to do so to avoid even the appearance of partisanship.
The Queen holds a meeting with the prime minister and the Secretary of State every Wednesday, unless she or the prime minister is outside of the kingdom.
Once a government has been formed, it is formally appointed by the Queen. Officially, it is the Queen who is the head of government, and she therefore presides over the Council of State (privy council), where the acts of legislation which have been passed by the parliament are signed into law. In practice, nearly all of the Queen's formal powers are exercised by the Cabinet of Cheirol.
