Blackhelm Confederate Armed Forces

Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Blackhelm Confederate Armed Forces are the military forces of the Blackhelm Confederacy. Traditionally, the Armed Forces are divided into three distinct sup-groups based on branch loyalties - Senatorial Forces, Chancellerial Forces, and Local Forces who report to their closest tribe or municipality. Despite not being a branch of the armed forces, the Custodia Fisci has military status and is organized along military lines. Recently, there has been argument to include private militias, such as those belonging to groups such as Griffincrest Oil Incorporated, into their own distinct fourth sub-group.

With certain exeptions, Blackhelm Confederate law requires two years of military service for all non-Hesperidesian Native citizens.

Senatorial Forces

Seantorial forces represent the vast majority of the Blackhelm Confederacy's military capacity, and all male non-Hesperidesian Native citizens are conscripted into these forces upon the age of 18 - with several exemptions. Most conscripts end up in the Blackhelm Confederate Army, or are transferred to serve in more localized Town Guard units outside of Senate control depending on requirements..

Chancellerial Forces

Chancellerial Forces, with allegiance to the Chancellor of the Blackhelm Confederacy, are considered elite units within the Blackhelm Confederacy and are often "tip of the spear" troops, able to be deployed rapidly throughout the world directly by the Chancellor without needing to first await an often time-consuming Senate approval process.

Chancellerial forces are the Blackhelm Confederate Imperial Guard, and the Blackhelm Confederate Imperial Honor Guard who have both retained their titles from the Imperial period as honorifics. Both the regular Guard and Honor Guard recruit directly from the Senatorial forces, often finding the most motivated and loyal soldiers to be selected for the recruitment process. Once training is completed in the Chancellerial forces, members often receive a number of lifelong amenities, including enhanced subsidized housing options, vehicles, and regular pay bonuses.

Local Forces

Prior to conscription (some localities have a minimum age requirement of 12 years old) but more typically after, Blackhelm Confederate citizens have the option to join up with their local Town Guard units, which act as a kind of localized reserve force. With such a large pool of recruits coming in each year, many young men are also sent directly into Town Guard units to serve out their terms of conscription rather than serving in the Blackhelm Confederate Army or another branch of the Senatorial forces.

Private militias

Private militias, especially those hired on as security by larger corporations, are very common throughout the Blackhelm Confederacy. Many militias recruit personnell as soon as they are discharged from their term of conscription, offering steadily pay and benefits to the young men who may be facing difficult prospects in the job market due to the economic situations present in the country.
