The Republic of Copperhead (commonly referred to as the The Copperhead Republic or simply Copperhead) is a landlocked country located in northern-western Tetruin. The capital is Harrisonville which is located on the bank of the Copperhead River in the heart of the Pineton Foothills. The largest city is Olive Hill located in the Heartland Valley, one of the longest valleys in the world located in the south of the country.

The sovereign state of Copperhead is a federal republic as well as a representative democracy with a unicameral legislature. Copperhead is internally divided into thirteen constituent states. Copperhead is bordered by Shenandoah to the north. The majority of the country lies within the Spruceton Mountains and is famed for its multitude of waterways that stem from the Copperhead River. Copperhead is the largest landlocked country in the world and the [insert] largest by total landmass.

With a population of only thirteen million, Copperhead is a relatively unpopulous nation, boasting one of the lowest population densities in the world. The population of Copperhead is multiethnic, comprising descendants of immigrants from Atsumaku, Trinovantum, Temuair, Ostlichtor, as well as the original Verusan colonizers and indigenous peoples. Licanan is the official language, though some protections for indigenous languages exist as well; the most common of which are Shoahokton and Cheekatta.

Copperhead modernly is a developing nation with a medium rating on the human development index. Copperhead's economy is primarily focused on agriculture, forestry, fishing and mining. Copperhead boasts large deposits of coal and bauxite that traditionally have served as the backbone of the economy, though this has lessened to a minor degree in recent years as worker organizations and environmental policy have shifted. During the period where Copperhead and Shenandoah were united before the [Insert War], Copperhead was famed for its exportation of vast amounts of coal yearly.

Etymology

The area comprising Copperhead under the original Allegheny Confederacy was known as Southern Cumberland until the [Insert War] began in 1914. Following Copperhead's declaration of independence from the Alleghenie Confederacy at the beginning of the war, the 1st Assembly of Copperhead voted to name the newly formed nation after its most prominent landmark, the Copperhead River. The river itself takes its name from the copperhead snake which is both prominent in the nation and resembles the river's winding appearance. The snake was also thought to represent the fighting spirit of the people of Copperhead in defense of their land, homes, and beliefs.
