Cordelia, officially known as the Cordelia Federal District, is the capital city of Meridon. As of 31 June 2020, the city had an estimated population of 3,160,980 across its urban area. It is the second-largest city in Meridon and Alexandria Territory behind Port Sistine. It covers an estimated TBD square kilometers of territory. Located astride the White River in the mid-east of Alexandria Territory, it is one of the country's largest economic centers as well as the seat of many of its governmental and political institutions.

Cordelia was founded by Federal authority as the Federal District in 1760 as a compromise between factions belonging to city-states recently subjugated to a federalized authority in the wake of the Second Meridonian Civil War. The site was selected due to its centrality, large area for expansion, and location in an area not formerly controlled by any of the city-state governments. Originally intended as a smaller location for the meeting of government officials, the city's size grew along with the growing government until its establishment as a metropolitan area in 1840. Cordelia saw a population boom at the end of the Great War in Esvanovia, surpassing Alanstown and Cossetton to become the second largest city in Meridon by 1970. Authority over the city's municipal affairs was released by the Federal government in 1982, though sections of the city remain under direct authority of the Federal government.

Cordelia is home to most of Meridon's federal governmental institutions and is the seat of the Meridonian Federal Council, the President of Meridon, and all four federal courts of last resort; as well as a large share of federal agencies including all Executive Council-level departments. Cordelia is home to a number of monuments, museums, and archives; and is the host of hundreds of embassies and consulates. It is also home to a number of non-profit organizations, think tanks, and charities. Cordelia Oreste International Airport is Meridon's fourth busiest by traffic.
