Coronial Intelligencery (Kouralia)

The Coronial Intelligencery is the principal foreign intelligence-gathering agency of the Crown Union of Kouralia. The Intelligencery is an Independent Executive Department reporting both to the Justiciar-Envoy for routine management and dissemination of information packages, and to the Crown Captain of Justiciars via the Information & Security Executive in matters of national security. It has responsibility for espionage and intelligence analysis to produce provenanced and assessed information products that can allow the Central Coronial Government to identify and influence the motivations and actions of current and future opponents as well as informing military planning and giving early warning of potential political, economic, and military crises.

The Intelligencery is staffed by Clerks-Coronial who are usually career intelligence professionals. These personnel are known formally as Intelligencers or Intelligence Officers. Whilst the methods available for them to gather information are many, one of the most common ones is to obtain the cooperation of people to act as sources through persuasion, reward, coercion and blackmail. These people, often foreign citizens in positions that give them access to desireable information, are referred to as Intelligence Agents. Successively senior Intelligencers are referred to as Superintending Intelligencers, who hold managerial responsibility, Intelligence Directors responsible for strategic and executive management, and the Intelligencer-General - the professional head of the organisation.
