Eirene of Latium, Queen of Dakmoor (Eirene Claudia Alexandra Christina Theodosia; b. 27 November 1971) is a Latin princess, Queen Mother of Sydalon, and Queen consort of Dakmoor by virtue of her marriage to King Malibar. She was previously married to King Desiderius I of Sydalon and is the mother to Queen Melisende III of Sydalon.

Eirene is the youngest child of Diana Augusta and Leo, Prince Consort. At the time of her birth, she was 5th in the line of succession. She was educated at Galata College at the University of Haenna. She was been previously engaged to Prince Guillaume of Lyncanestria, whose death on 17 April 1992 marked the end of their engagement. She later married Sydalene royal Desiderius, Prince of Petra on 19 November 1992; however, their marriage ended in September 2015 after Desideruis's death. She has five children from the marriage: Melisende, William, Sebastian, Roletus, Desideria, and Bohemond. In 2014, she married Malibar, King of Dakmoor; they have two children, Maximilian and Sabina.

Eirene has been a supporter of the expansion of rights non-Christians in Sydalon and is the president or head of numerous charities and women's organizations throughout Ghant, Latium, and northern Scipia.

Early Life and education

Eirene was born at the Palace of Augustus, in Palatine, Castellum, on 27 April 1971 as the youngest child of Diana Augusta and Leo, Prince Consort. She was baptized at Sancta Sapientia in Castellum by Archbishop Thomas Appuleius of Castellum. Her godparents are Duke Joseph Verrucosus (a friend of her grandfather); Michael I of Ghant (a friend of her father); Princess Zoe, Duchess of Haenna (her mother's sister); and Agnes Selica (her father's mother).

Education

Unlike her elder siblings who were enrolled in private primary schools, Eirene was primarily educated by private tutors for her primary schooling. Her primary tutor during this period was John Makrembolites, the former provost of Pescia Academy. She wouldn't attend formal schooling until she was enrolled at St Sophia's School for Girls in Castellum, where she would remain for the entirety of her secondary education. She enrolled at Galata College at the University of Haenna, where she studied agriculture before dropping out to marry Desiderius, Prince of Petra.

Personal Life

Eirene has of close friendships with close friendships with a number of royals and nobility. One of her closest friends is Princess Caroline of Ghant, whom she first met during a state visit in 1979. Eirene was a bridesmaid at Caroline's wedding to Prince Theodurik of Onneria - later King Theodurik IX. Eirene had later made Caroline maid of honor for her planned marriage with Prince Guillaume of Lyncanestria. Eirene also has a close friendship with her cousin Silvia Tarpeia. Due to her first engagement with Prince Guillaume of Lyncanestria, Eirene is very close with members of the Lyncanestrian Imperial Family, including Emperor Philippe VIII and Empress Alys.

Engagement to Guillaume of Lyncanestria

Eirene became engaged to Prince Guillaume of Lyncanestria, at the time second in-line to the Lyncanestrian throne, on 20 April 1991. The two had first met at the in the summer of 1988 at the summit of the Belisarian Council in Castellum ab Alba. The first day of the summit celebrations were hosted by Eirene's parents. Eirene and Guillaume were photographed together, and later were confirmed to be courting. The couple was subject to intense media attention throughout their relationship, most notably for Guillaume's reputation. The couple continued courting from 1988 until their engagement in 1991. The wedding date was originally set for December of that year, but postponed until 30 May 1992, after Guillaume's expected graduation from the Imperial University. Their engagement tragically ended following the death of her fiancé, Prince Guillaume, in a boating accident along the Lyncanestrian coast on 17 April 1992. His funeral was held on the 20 April, the date which would have been their one-year engagement anniversary, and just over a month shy of their wedding.

Marriage to Desiderius I

Eirene would later marry her fourth cousin then Desiderius, Prince of Petra on 19 November 1992, following a betrothal agreement between Latin and Sydalene houses. The agreement resulted in an unusually short three-month engagement, and Eirene only met Desiderius twice. The wedding was well attended in royal circles, and featured the first Sydalene royal wedding to feature a televised procession. Their marriage was considered rocky at first by Sydalene royal court observers, though biographers explain Eirene and Desiderius eventually developed a warm relationship.

Over the course of her marriage to Desiderius, Eirene had six children: Melisende, William, Roletus, Desideria, and Bohemond.

In 2013, Desiderius was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He passed away on 22 May 2013. Eirene's tenure as consort is among the shortest in Sydalene history, the only shorter was that of her successor Godfrey Galan.

Marriage to Malibar, King of Dakmoor

In 2014, Eirene attended the wedding of Nathan IV of Ghant and Sophia of Dakmoor. At the wedding, she reconnected with Malibar, King of Dakmoor, with whom she often spoke with during visits to Ghish during the mid-1980s. Eirene and Malibar would eventually marry in July of the same year.

Eirene and Malibar have two children: Prince Maximilian of Dakmoor, born in 2015; and Princess Sabina of Dakmoor, born in 2017.
