Gerşyr (abbreviated GE) is a region of Gylias. Located in the north, it borders Knichus to the north, Gacar to the west, Mişeyáke to the south, and Arxaþ to the east. Its capital is Mytin.

Geography

Much of the region's territory is dominated by the Naryn mountains, making it one of Gylias' most mountainous regions. The western part contains a small portion of the Laişyn plain, where the larger settlements such as the capital Mytin are concentrated.

The Mytin Pass lies to the north, a strategically important pass throughout much of Gylian history. The GNRTS operates an international high-speed rail line from Mytin to Nycero in Knichus.

Demographics

The 2020 census recorded a population of 207.362, making it one of Gylias' least populated regions.

The main Gylic peoples in the area are Aréş, with a Zineran minority in the east.

Economy

The region is mainly rural and has a smaller economy based on agriculture and animal husbandry. It also receives tourism, particularly related to winter sports.

Politics

The region's regional council is named the Gerşyr Regional Council, and its regional party is named the Mountain Party of Gerşyr (French reformed: Parti Montaine d'Gerşyr).

Gerşyr has historically been a left-wing stronghold. At the same time, the region's mainly rural population has not been receptive to tendencies of aristerokratia and socialised luxury, leading to gains by the Movement for Emancipation and Democracy and Revolutionary Rally during the wretched decade.
