Jaques Anami Ryanni, commonly known as Jaques Ryan, is an Elborran politician and activist currently serving as the 24th President of Elborra since 2016. Ryanni was elected president of Elborra in the 2016 general election and took office on 9 May. As president, he launched the E4-trillion National Infrastructure Plan and signed a controversial nuclear power deal with the Cadairi government, which was blocked by the Supreme Court in 2017. Ryanni has increasingly relied on left-wing populist rhetoric and in 2018 announced a new policy of "radical economic transformation". Attendant policy initiatives of his presidency included land expropriation without compensation, free higher education, a series of attempted structural reforms in key sectors involving restrictions on foreign ownership, and more stringent indigenous economic empowerment requirements. In the international arena, Ryanni emphasised cooperation and economic diplomacy with Zamastan and its allied bloc. The admission of Elborra to the observer statuses within C21 has been described as a major triumph for Ryanni, and he has been praised for his HIV/AIDS policy, pursuing de-armament, and for campaigning for expanding indigenous rights.
