Katherine von Wettin; born 30 July 1954) is a Drambenburgian politician and diplomat who served as the twelfth Secretary-General of the Coalition of Crown Albatross from 2020 until 2024, taking the position at the end of Adrik Pavel's term at the beginning of 2020 and losing a second term reelection to Sylvain Buzitu. She is the second Drambenburgian and the second woman to hold the title of Secretary-General, following Kjersten van der Haagen (1992). She is a member of the Royal House of Drambenburg, the prestigious House von Wettin. She was initially considered to be a long shot for the office due to her royalty and controversies of her family members, but she was elected narrowly to her seat. As secretary-general, she has been responsible for several major reforms on peacekeeping and CCA employment practices around the world. Diplomatically, von Wettin has taken particularly strong views on global warming, the civil conflict in Zalluabed, and promoting environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies.

One of the first crisis' von Wettin faced as Secretary-General was Ossinia's attacks on international shipping and Zamastanian Navy vessels in the Ossinia Sea in April and May of 2020, which led her to remove Martin Saint-Yves' representative seat from the C.C.A. General Assembly, paving the way for the coalition-invasion of Ossinia by Zamastan. Von Wettin was instrumental in coordinating the relief response to the Temebok tsunami and Central Ausiana floods, and the issue of international counter-terrorism. Despite prolific successes in her term, she has faced criticism for failures to navigate the diplomatic and humanitarian crisis that unfolded following the outbreak of the civil war in Syraranto, voicing opposition to the West-East Chanchajillan peace plan, and her own hesitancy to oppose the Drambenburgian invasion and annexation of Blaoria. She was challenged by Sylvain Buzitu of Apatonia to replace her seat in October 2023, losing the election.

Early Life

Katherine von Wettin was born into the prestigious Royal House of von Wettin in 1959 at their historic family estate in Saxonie. She was the eldest child of Eduard XIX von Wettin, who held the esteemed title of prince-elector of Saxonie, Jordland, and Gotha. Her upbringing was steeped in tradition and nobility, providing a solid foundation for her future in politics and diplomacy.

From a young age, Katherine's education reflected the privilege and expectations that came with her noble lineage. She attended an exclusive all-female private boarding school in Lerbin, which catered to the children of royalty and nobility from across the nation. At this institution, Katherine excelled in her studies, consistently achieving A+ grades and graduating with honors.

Beyond academics, Katherine actively engaged in extracurricular activities that showcased her diverse talents and interests. She lent her melodious voice to the school's varsity choir as an alto singer and displayed her athleticism on the varsity polo team. These experiences not only enriched her personal development but also provided her with essential life skills and a broad social network.

After completing her secondary education, Katherine von Wettin continued her academic journey by enrolling at the prestigious University of Lerbin. There, she pursued a double major in political science and pre-law, laying the groundwork for her future career in law and politics. Despite her demanding studies, she continued to excel, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1971.

Her thirst for knowledge and a desire to engage in international affairs led her to pursue a Master's degree in International Relations at Lerbin University, which she completed in 1973. Her academic achievements were complemented by her dedication to polo, reflecting both her aristocratic heritage and her sporting prowess.

In 1974, Katherine embarked on her legal career by accepting a clerkship at the High Courts of Drambenburg. This role allowed her to gain practical experience while simultaneously pursuing a Juris Doctorate degree at the University of Lerbin. She successfully graduated in December 1976 and passed the Bar in spring 1977, officially becoming a practicing attorney.

For the next few years, she worked as a corporate lawyer at a prestigious law firm in Lerbin, honing her legal skills and gaining valuable experience. However, her sense of duty and commitment to her ancestral home led her back to Saxonie in 1980. With her father, Eduard XIX von Wettin, expecting election to the office of Kaiser, she took over the management of the family estate in Saxonie and embarked on her political journey by launching her bid for the position of Governor of Saxonie. This marked the beginning of her illustrious political career, which would later extend to the international stage.
