Kausania (abbreviated KA) is a region of Gylias. Located in the north-west, it borders Salxar, Makarces, and Gacar to the north, Mişeyáke and Arsad to the east, and Elena to the south.

Geography

Most of the region's territory is flat and dominated by the Laişyn plain, with mild elevation in the north from the edge of the Salxar mountains.

The Káys river is its most important river, crossing the region from north to south; the capital Dáuzas is located on its banks. The Ţikona river determines its boundaries with Gacar, Mişeyáke, and Arsad.

Demographics

The 2020 census recorded a population of 1.555.215. The main large cities are Dáuzas, Lakşas, and Kanedras.

The main Gylic peoples in the area are Tanan, Rezakan, and Aréş. There is a Hellene minority in the south-west, outside Lakşas and near the border with Elena, and a Lusitan concentration in the east, neighbouring Arsad.

Economy

The region's economy is mainly based on agriculture, giving it a reputation as "Gylias' breadbasket", and industry.

The service sector is the biggest contributor to the regional economy.

Politics

The region's regional council is named the Kausania Regional Council, and its regional party is named the Rally of Kausanians (French: Rassemblement des Kausannes).

Kausania has historically been a strongly left-wing region, generally supporting the Progressive Alliance, although the Revolutionary Rally made gains here during the wretched decade. Local politics sees strong performances by the Free Land Party owing to the importance of agriculture to the economy.
