L'Actualité is a Gylian newspaper, founded in 1984. It is part of the Magdel Group.

History

It was founded in 1984 by Marie-Agnès Delaunay, who envisioned it as a purely Francophone national newspaper.

At the time, it had the most advanced production techniques of a Gylian newspaper: it was produced on computers running desktop publishing software with WYSIWYG capabilities, and printed in full colour. It quickly became Gylias' most successful Francophone newspaper, and caused other newspapers to similarly convert to electronic production and colour printing.

While Marie-Agnès contributes a monthly column to it and its sister paper L'Commerçant, it has not been changed to match her public persona like Radio Courant.

Profile

Its political orientation is liberal and Donatellist, and is considered more leftist than its competitor The National Observer.

It is published solely in French.

Ownership and organisation

L'Actualité is legally constituted as an SA, and part of the Magdel Group. Its headquarters are in Náunai, Ḑarna.

The newspaper has a 10-member Management Board and a 20-member Supervisory Board, elected yearly.

Its revenue comes from newsagent's sales, paid subscriptions, online orders, and donations. Donors are listed at the end of each issue. It does not accept advertising.
