Classifications

The USTN has specific requirements for each category of vessels, while they may make exceptions for various reasons. The majority of the vessels the UST both operates and has classified from other countries fallow these guidlines:

Aircraft carrier

While the UST's current naval doctrine does not include this category of ship in their fleet currently, it is still mentioned in their classifications, for identifying both hostile, and friendly ships of this type.

Aircraft Carriers are any vessel which has a larger maximum displacement than 16,000 tons, and is capable of carrying and launching airplanes as its primary offensive armament

Helicopter carrier

Any vessel which has a larger maximum displacement than 16,000 tons, and is capable of carrying and launching helicopters as its primary offensive armament.

Amphibious asssault Ships

Amphbious Assault Ships are classified, like helicopter carriers, as having helicopters being their main offensive armament, but are smaller, having a maximum displacement under 16,000 tons.

Cruisers

Cruisers are the largest non-carrier surface warfare vessel classified under the USTN naval doctrine. They're any non-carrier, warfare designed surface vessel with a maximum displacement of over 25,000 tons.

Destroyers

Destroyers are a mid-sized surface warfare vessel, just like the Cruisers, but smaller with a maximum displacement of over 7,500 tons.

Frigate

Frigrates are like small destroyers, being a small sized surface warfare vessel, with a maximum displacement of over 4,000 tons.

Corvettes

Corvettes are the smallest surface warfare capitol ship classified in the USTN, with a maximum displacement of over 1,000 tons.

Active ships

The USTN has a sizeable modern day navy, with a total of 132 ships.
