Luchintsy (/ˈluːtʃɪntsiː/; Narodyn: Лучинці, tr. Luchyntsi, ['lʲutʃ⁽ʲ⁾ɪtsʲi]) is a city in northeastern Soravia, one of the country's six national cities. As of 2017, it has a metropolitan population of 1,027,182, making it the sixth-largest city in Soravia. Luchintsy lies on the mouth of the River Tsyr and is an important natural harbour and port for Soravia, and is its second-busiest behind Samistopol. Luchintsy is known for its old buildings and historic sites, and its Old Town is classified as a world heritage site.
The city was founded around the 7th century as a mercantile city that mainly connected the Marolevic tribes of the west to the Verliquoian Empire by trade. With the foundation and expansion of the Great Vesemir, Luchintsy was made the capital of the Principality of Dulat and the Luchintsy, one of the wealthiest principalities within the confederation. It eventually aligned itself with Pavatria in the late-9th century and was absorbed by the duchy when it was founded by Nuruk in 910 AD. It grew as a natural entrepot whilst part of Pavatria, and served as an important city and port for expeditions eastward into central Euclea.
