The Mai people (Mahanan: माई) are one of the larger ethnic groups in Mahana with a population of around 1.9 million people. They speak the language of Sanpujri. They are thought to be closely related to the Butwali and Pashimari peoples of the same region. The Mai peoples are of great scientific interest due to the believed immunity to Malaria due to the genetic structure of the Mai people having Thalassemic blood.
