Matthias Zaceriah Cerfbeer is a Jyaueze lawyer and politician who served as the 23rd Chancellor of Jyau. He is a member of the Conservative Party and has been Chancellor since 2016, winning reelection in 2020. He resigned in 2022 amid a steepening economic crisis, and he was replaced by Arend Schoten. Prior to being the head of state, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Felix Langsdale administration, and he was a lawyer for many years before entering politics. Cerfbeer, who originally had high approval ratings both domestically and internationally during his first term and upon reelection to a second, has faced steep criticism and public opposition for his handling of the Jyaueze recession, specifically the failure of his government to achieve a bailout from CATA, the failure to manage the energy crisis which left Jyau with constant blackouts, and the suppression of public demonstrations.
