Micheal Brudia (1982-02-11) 11 February 1982 is the 4th President of Vazcoeur and leader of the Progressive. He has been President since his landslide victory in the 2019. He has also served as Governor of Brudia from 2014-2019. He has been described as one of the key members of the Movement Blue which exposed Xino's crimes and brought down his dictatorial control.

Feeling disillusioned with the main left-leaning political parties Brudia stood as a independent candidate in the 2014 Brudian gubernatorial election where he unexpectedly came second in the first round of voting and then won an upset victory in the second round. In late 2016 he publicly endorsed the Progressive Alliance and announced his intention to stand as leader becoming the dark-horse candidate. He would end up winning a landslide victory becoming the first leader of a political party in Vazcoeur to be a sitting governor.

Early life

Brudia was born to a wealthy family in 1981. He has described his childhood as an unhappy one due to the massive changes to Vazian life and culture created by the dictator Xino Crosus. He says that his parents relationship with each other and himself became aloof and cold.

Brudia had a natural talent for language, learning 4 in secondary school. He also enjoyed the limited lessons on history and politics which were mostly propaganda for the National Party regime.

Micheal Brudia took office on the 15 April 2011. He began by setting out a new state budget. The budget included a raise on state corporation tax while proportionately decreasing state business tax. The budget also expanded the state healthcare system, announced new investment in green energy, announced a massive council house building programme and major cuts to the large state bureaucracy. The budget was brought before the state legislature which initially rejected it. This was because the Conservative delegation and the Centre delegation didn't want to be associated with each other. This created a statewide government shutdown. Governor Brudia recalled the state legislature from summer recess and threatened to declare a state emergency allowing the federal government to dissolve the state legislature. The legislature failed to pass a budget so, then incumbent, President Granville issued an executive order to dissolve the Brudian state legislature. The ensuing election gave big gains to left-leaning parties (the Greens, People Before Profit, the Social Workers Bloc) and punished the Liberals and Conservatives. This meant that the original budget could be passed easily.

Ideology and views

Brudia describes himself as a libertarian socialist. This has caused major controversy and ridicule in the media due to his position being perceived to be extremely out of touch and radical.

Social Views

Michael Brudia's views on society and social issues are described as extremely progressive. His policy positions have consistently been for same-sex marriage, unrestricted abortion, the separation of church and state and discrimination protection for all. It is unclear his opinion on transgender and non-binary issues as many would describe him borderline transphobic as he is opposed to the unrestricted nature of current laws on gender. Brudia himself has said that he isnt transphobic and that he simply believes having no regulations at all allows transphobes to "win".

Foreign Policy Views

Brudia's Foreign policy is extremely anti-war and in favour of logical pacifism. He is opposed to any nation which abuses human rights and has controversially broke relations with these countries withdrawing all aid sent to them and permanently closing Vazian embassies.

Personal life

Brudia's sexuality has always been a major point of interest in the media. His close relationship with David Sud has always been the reason for so many rumours of Brudia potentially being gay. Brudia confirmed his relationship with Sud in a candid interview on the campaign trail of the 2014 gubernatorial election saying that “it is really irrelevant to my ability to be the governor” but adding that he knew that it was “historic”.

Micheal Brudia has also suffered from depression and anxiety in the early 2000s and praised mental health officials to help him "recover from my dark time". He is also an outspoken athiest who has famously debated publically many high religious leaders.
