Government

Nise is a Federal constitutional presidental republic regulated by the Constitution of Nise, considered the nations Supreme Legal Document. The Government of Nise is divided up into three branches of government, the executive, legislative, and judicial.

The executive branch which is head by the President of Nise, currently is Fattaah al-Salameh, who enforces the laws passed by the Parliament of Nise as well as acts as the Commander in Chief of all the armed forces, reserves the right to veto any bills passed by Parliament, subject to parliamentary override, acts as the Chief Diplomat of the nation and approves of cabinet members appointed by the Prime Minister. He is elected every four years by the people, he is limited to serving two consecutive terms.

The legislative branch of government is made up of the 250 member Parliament of Nise is divided into two chambers. The 150 member Chamber of Commons who creates law, declares war, assents to the ratification of international treaties, and selects the Prime Minister. Members are elected on a four year cycle offset with 75 seats opening up for election every two years, they are elected on a proportional basis. The 100 member Chamber of States who in conjunction with the Chamber of Commons creates law, declares war, assents to the ratification of international treaties, and selects the Prime Minister, also conducts the impeachment process of the President, appoints members of the Supreme Court, and decides the proportional basis of which states are represented in election. They are elected in a First past the post method with 10 members coming from each of the ten states of Nise. The Prime Minister is selected by a joint session of Parliament and as long as he holds his parliamentary seat and does not resign or loses the confidence of both chambers remains in power. The Prime Minister organizes and appoints the Cabinet of Nise consisting of a variety of ministers who in conjunction with the President insure that the government continues to function.

Judiciary and Law Enforcement

The Judiciary of Nise is made up of four primary courts. The Supreme Court and its Municipality Courts, The Court of Balances and Weights, the Court of Civil Affairs and the Court of Criminal Affairs. There are several Law Enforcement agencies that work with the court systems to ensure proper enforcement of laws and to promote public safety and well being. They are the National Police Force, the Department of Balances and Weights, and the Niseran Bureau of Investigation

Foreign Relations

Nise is a member of Community of Nations, International Council of Democracy, GIFA, and ITO. Following the end of the Niseran Civil War and the Founding of the Republic of Nise, the nation has taken an active stance of “neutrality” hoping to maintain the states independence and actively pursue mutually beneficial agreements with all nations. This stance differs little from what Nise under the Awan family has followed in regards to foreign policy.

In practice Nise has followed a very aggressive form of energy diplomacy using it to secure profitable economic agreements and as a means to maintain power on the international stage by leveraging energy prices and energy flow as a means to maintain relevance.

Nise is regarded as a minor power in the region but holds serious economic sway due to the outpouring of oil from the nation.

Military

The People’s Armed Forces of Nise is the nation’s military and is split into fourbranches the Niseran People’s Army, the Niseran People’s Navy, the Niseran People’s Air Force and the Niseran People’s Reserve Forces. The Comander in Chief of the People’s Armed Forces is the President of Nise, it is a voluntary force, numbering roughly 52,000 active personnel and 20,000 reserve personnel with a budget of $2.3 billion, the Department of Niseran Defense manages and oversees the military.

The Niseran People’s Army numbers roughly 32,000 personnel. The NPA has played a major role in recent years for the nation, most notably in counter insurgency operations and upholding the 2015 Niseran Ceasefire in conjunction with the Community of Nations. While it is currently one of the smallest militaries In Coius it is highly experienced from the Niseran Civil War and ongoing Insurgency in Nise. The Niseran People’s Air Force plays a central role within the active peacekeeping operations in Nise by providing aerial support for the other branches of the military, supplying strung out outposts and delivering aid to isolated areas. The NPN actively patrols Niseran territorial water and plays an active role in regulating smuggling operations in and out of Nise.
