Operation Shadow Network (Lijiangese: 影子网络, Yǐngzǐ Wǎngluò) was the code-name for a Lijiangese military operation on the planet of Calagains. It is the first military operation that was launched during the Campaign of Calagains. Units that originated from the L.R.A. Huajia and L.R.A. Shenzhou were send onto the surface of Calagains. The operation's goal was to establish a telecommunications network on the planet in as little time as possible in order to communicate between ground troops. The operation was an overall success with planetary communications being established in three months. Operation Shadow Network was afterwards followed by Operation Copperhorn.

The Lijiang Unit 21 was transported onto the surface using Lijiangese Dark Energy Teleportation Matrix from the Huajia. Unit 21 was geared with Lijiangese Environmental Protective Biosuit and Lijiangese Model 53 Covert Armor. This operation marked the first usage of the Lijiang Quantum Displacement Device.

Background

In an attempt to derive resources from the Akannite Confederation being used against Lijiang in the Campaign of Yanshi, Supreme Councillor Xi Jianqi established the Strategic Council of Calagains. A group consisting of generals and politicans, an attack of an ill-defended planet was to take place. To commemorate the finishing of the Huajia, the largest vessel in the Lijiang Republican Army; it as well as the L.R.A. Shenzhou were assigned to the command of the Strategic Council. General Li Zeshu was placed as the leader of the Strategic Council and was tasked with beginning an offensive campaign. This offensive campaign was eventually settled on Calagains.

After the end of the Battle over Northern Calagains and the start of the Battle of Southern Calagains, the Strategic Council agreed that any possible delay in their plans could mean a total defeat. Li Zeshu considered the establishment of ground control more important than total control over Southern Calagains space.
