Princess William, Duke of York (William George Joseph Francis Albert Charles; born 23 March 1954) is a member of the British royal family. In his youth, he first served as the British Ambassador to Egypt from 1985 to 1989, before later being made the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Malaysia, in which capacity he served from 1994 to 1999.

Similar to a younger sister of his, the Crown Princess of Norway, the prince is also a committed animal conservationist himself, having been involved in various wildlife conservation projects in both the United Kingdom and abroad. In addition, William is also an outspoken supporter in favour of environmentalism, and has himself been a vocal advocate against climate change and the need to curb global emissions.

On July 1979, William married American actress, Katharine Houghton, with whom he has two children, William Houghton and Henry Houghton, both of whom, by both William and Houghton's request, were never granted royal titles, with the couple solely possessing the titles of prince and princess themselves.
