Raymond Barthélemy, born June 12, 1952 in Bourbonne-les-Bains, is a voiseyian politician . He was deputy of the first constituency of the Haute-Marne from 1985 to 1990 and from 2010 to 2020 before becoming prime minister under Daniel Marangé. He was also in 1990, Minister of Finance.

Early Life, Education, and Family

Raymond Barthélemy was born on June 16, 1952 in Bourbonne-les-Bains in Haute-Marne, of Voiseyien parents. Raymond studied at the Jean Simonet high school in Bourbonne-les-Bains and quickly became interested in politics, finance and economics. Depsite the war, he graduated from the Maurice Broncourt University in Langres in 1974. He then followed a political curriculum and applied to the University of Political Science of Chaumont. His application accepted, he began his studies. In 1979, he graduated from Science-Po Chaumont and came second in his class. The war did not affect him personally as he was away from the front.

Political Career

Raymond Barthélemy began his political career as a deputy for the 1st constituency of Haute-Marne in 1985. He was quickly spotted by the general public as someone who held his own in debates, not letting himself be bullied in the assembly by the socialist groups, known for their virulence in debates. But also for being a man who speaks the truth and is trustworthy. In 1990 he was appointed Minister of Finance. It was during this time that Raymond shone. Indeed, the 1990s in Voisey's were very complicated. In spite of the small budget available, Raymond launched a massive plan to save the Voisey's companies and factories from being taken over by the Upland and Ostra companies, which were making big inroads on the world market. Tens of billions of Francs were given to the companies to modernize and change their sales and production strategy. This strategy paid off, because in 2004 (even though it was outside of his mandate), Voisey's recovered its economic position and the economy suddenly and strongly recovered. Raymond was awarded several medals for his service. In Haute-Marne, farmers' collectives created a petition so that the medal of the Legion of Honor be given to him. This happened. In 2010, Raymond was re-elected as deputy of the first constituency of Haute-Marne with 97.6% of the votes, a historical record. During the 2020 elections, Daniel Marangé offered Raymond a place as Prime Minister. He accepted and took office on April 30, 2020.
