Romberg, officially known as the United Realms of the Imperial Crown of Romberg and the Royal-Ducal Lands of Hohenstein, is a developed nation in northwestern Astyria, on the polar landmass of Thule. It shares only one land border with the terra nullius of Ultima Thule. Its dominions include the Rombergian Arctic Islands, approximately three thousand kilometres from its mainland. It covers a land area of roughly three million square kilometres and has a population of 150 million.

Romberg is governed by a constitutional monarchy under Johann VI. Its capital city, Holmgard, is located in the country's southeast, which enjoys a milder climate than the icebound northern coasts. The northwest of the country fronts onto an inland sea known as the Romberg's Sea.

Geographically isolated from the rest of Astyria, Romberg spent much of its history in relative isolation with minimal foreign trade. It was the junior partner in a union with Glisandia from 1556, breaking free during the Great Astyrian War. It subsequently experienced a lengthy civil war which only concluded in 1978 with Rombergian reunification. Following reunification, the government committed to avoiding overseas conflict and remained relatively uninvolved in Astyrian political blocs except for its membership in the EATC. In 2016 it advanced claims on the Western Tundra, a region in central Lorecia which had historically resisted attempts to colonise it including those by Romberg. Following international sanctions, Romberg backed down and reversed its foreign policy, returning to "hiding under the stairs".
