Savland (/'sɑvlænd/; Savic: Saven, ['sɑː.ʋən]), officially the United Kingdom of Savland (Savic: Forente kongeriket Saven), is a country in northern Patyria. Located on the Ovegian peninsula, the country is bordered by Corthe to the northeast and Fellmark to the east. Its western coast borders the Cercian Ocean, while its eastern and southern coasts flank the Veisian Sea. The North Hadranes, located in North Artalia, are a constituent territory of Savland. The country's population of 18 million is the largest in northern Patyria, and its capital city Skalla is the largest in the region.
Savland was first settled in the 11th and 10th centuries BC, leading to the emergence of distinct tribal groups and cultures over hundreds of years. From the 8th to 12th centuries AD, the Drenthic Age saw the emergence of warrior-like seafarers, known as Drenthians, who attacked and pillaged neighbouring Patyrian regions. The Mogevianizing of the region ended the Drenthic age, and led to the consolidation of kingdoms in Ovegia. Savland emerged as a distinct kingdom in the 11th century, and it maintained strong influence or control over its neighbouring states until the Caberran Wars and the Patyrian Revolutions. Savland's colonial empire, which maintained territory in the Artalias, Tusola, and Oridia, declined in the 19th and 20th centuries after domestic reforms transformed the country into a constitutional monarchy.
Savland aligned with Vierzland and the Allied Powers during the Great War, emerging victorious in 1947. Despite its official neutrality, Savland was pressured into an alliance with Vierzland during the Silent War. Despite this, Savland's economy boomed and it was during this time that it developed a robust social welfare system and maintained a solid democratic system despite its unbalanced relationships with stronger, authoritarian states.
Savland is a founding member of the International Assembly, the Savic Language Conference, and the Ovegian League. It is an associate member of the Union of Patyrian States and a participant in the Leisau Group summits. Savland's nominal GDP of $965 billion is the 12th-highest in the world, and its nominal GDP per capita is the third-highest, behind only Fellmark and Vonzumier. Its Human Development Index rating of .935 is the highest in the world, a position the country has held since 2004.
