Shimachi (Miranian: 島地; Gothic: 𐍊𐌹𐌼𐌰𐍁𐌹; abbreviated SHI) is a province of Akashi. Located in the south-east, it includes the islands of Daishima and Shōshima.

Geography

Daishima's territory is dominated by a large mountain in the centre, Shiroyama. Shōshima's territory is largely flat plains.

The largest rivers are Mitsugawa and Narusegawa, both located on Daishima.

Demographics

The 2020 census recorded a population of 910.985, making it Akashi's least populated province. The largest cities are:

  • Kōka — the regional capital.
  • Reizan
  • Shinka

Economy

Shimachi's economy is dominated by agriculture and tourism.

As the province geographically closest to Acrea's Ryuku archipelago, it is a popular site of tourism and cruises.

One small island in the province, Kyōshima, is notable as the site of Common Sphere summits, and the former residence of Gina Campanelli.

Politics

Shimachi is a generally left-leaning province, and is notably one of the Green Party's strongest provinces.
