Tal Shiar, officially the Socialist Union of Tal Shiar, is a country comprising the northern end of the island of XXX and several minor archipelagos. Tal Shiar is located in the northern Europa, where the Ranke Sea and Kosscow Sea meet. It is north of Havebergen, east of Tagmatium, south of Deltannia and west of Vetok. Talemanica is the largest city and capital. Culturally, Tal Shiar is considered a part of Burania. It is a multiethnic country whose people, culture and customs derive from diverse origins. The country has a close relationship with the Volsci Republic. According to an estimate made in 2007 by the EOS, Tal Shiar is home to approximately 5.8 Million people.

Etymology

Thelarike in northern Burania split into northern Deltannia and southern Tal Shiar.

Geography

The capital city is Talemanica.[1] The Union consists of several states, one of which is called Pleven.[2]

History

Móinéar Broch on the north coast of Tal Shiar

(Used to be part of the Kingdom of Thelarike in northern Burania. Influences from both Occident and Burania because of its location in the middle. Close ties to Deltannia with which it shares a share ancestral Buran parent kingdom. Oldest traces are similarly circular Nuraghe towers.)

Politics

Tal Shiar is a communist union.[3] The nation is led by Secretary General Nikolay Jovtvev. Mr Jovtvev is the grandson of the former leader, Secretary General Cesario Jovtvev, who died in 2005.[4] In 2007 the offices of Secretary General and Premier were merged into the position of Chairman, making Secretary General Jovtvev the nation's first Chairman. The executive cabinet consists of 16 ministers and advisors, who form the Council of State. After all Congress members were slain in the Great Struggle, the legislative branch of government was disbanded and its powers were transferred to the Council of State, which is also led by the Chairman Jovtvev.

The Council of State gives priority to a large military reform. The Union is committed to replenishing the military after the devastating civil war. The Union has reinstated nationwide conscription, urging all able-bodied men to report for duty. The military is investing in the upgrading of tanks and ships. Readiness drills are held on a regular basis, worrying the international community that the Union is on the brink of military action. Funds are also dedicated to expand the nation's intelligence bureau and police ranks. It is too soon to tell if these reforms will work and whether or not the population will continue to support the new peaceful regime that is in power. [5]

Economy

(Planned economy. Economy tied into the rest of the island. Makes some money off of the fishing industry.)

Demographics

(Because of the nice climate, there are plenty of farmers inland. But the majority of people live on or near the coast. The population can be compared to Denmark at <6 Million. The people are related to Deltannia, Havebergen and Vanarambaion. The majority religion is Occidental Christianity. There is a large minority of Volscians.)

Culture

(Mixture of Occidental and Buranian cultures. Influences from other countries on the island. Strong socialist cultural influence.)
