With a population of one and a quarter million, it is the second-most populous urban area in the province of Trelum behind Martheqa, the nation's capital. Located at the mouth of the Serëtanz, it is the second largest port on Trellin's Jajexan coast, behind Khem, and one of the most important in the Trellinese Empire as a whole. Before the twentieth century, Tanzigar was the chief naval port in Trellin.
