Vedmed, (Vedmedi: საგაჩიანი რესპუბლიკა) officially the Republic of Vedmed, is a sovereign state in Western Euclea. Vedmed a total land area of 149,023 square kilometres (57,538 sq mi) making it the fortieth largest nation in Kylaris by area, sharing a land border with Yavorstrana to the South, XXX to the North, XXX to the East and Narozilca to the West. Vedmed has a total population of 10.5 Million citizens making it the xth largest nation in Kylaris by population. The capital city and its largest city is Tsivebi, other major cities include XXX, XXY, XXC, and XCY.

The area of what is now Vedmed was not originally entirely inhabited by the Vedmedi rather it was once largely inhabited by !Ukrainians forming the Kingdom of Holdenlend with the Vedmedi arriving with the Zalyk tribes in the mid 13th century with Zalyk tribes pressing further west into what is modern day Narozalica. The Vedmedi and !Ukranians would become involved in the Vedmedi-!Ukrainian Wars which would eventually result in the majority of the !Ukrainian being forced out and an establishment of a loose confederation among the Vedmedi. During the early and mid 17th Century the Vedmedi tribes would be slowly annexed by the Tsardom of Narozalica and by 1654 the last of the Vedmedi had finally been annexed by the Tsardom.

During the First Narozalic Civil War and the resulting end of it Vedmed would achieve independence from Narozalica and bring about the establishment of what is now the Vedmedi Republic. Vedmed would maintain its independence throughout the rest of the 19th century following a policy of Vedmedization. During the Great War (Kylaris) Vedmed fought on the side of the Grand Alliance following significant pressure from Narozalica to join the war. Leading into the present day Vedmed has moved consistently away from this policy and has align itself towards Y.

Etymology

Vedmed is not a Vedmedi word, it is a !Ukranian word used to describe the ferocity of fighting of these new nomadic fighters and their arrival into Central Euclea as well as to insult their apparent excess of hair and their stature being short and stout.
