Zian is an Administrative District (Province) of Zamastan. It's largest city is Tofino, though it technically operates as its own district because it houses the Federal Government of Zamastan, the Zian Presidential Mansion and the residence of the President of Zamastan, as well as the home of the legislative branch: the Congressional Hall. Arinals, then, would be considered the largest city governed independently within the district of Zian.

Zian has major importance to the formation and history of Zamastan. The Catica First Nations have a history spanning more than 10,000 years, with colonial history beginning in the early 1700's. Zian is defined by its coastline along the Olympic Ocean and mountain ranges which feature peaks such as Grouse Mountain and Mount Qira, the two highest mountains in Zamastan. Nature areas like mountainous parks offer hiking and biking trails, as well as campgrounds.

Zian is a leading lumber producer; its rugged surface is rich in stands of fir, hemlock, ponderosa pine, white pine, spruce, larch, and cedar. Zian is the nation's largest producer of apples, hops, pears, red raspberries, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries, and ranks high in the production of apricots, asparagus, dry edible peas, grapes, lentils, peppermint oil, and potatoes. Livestock and livestock products make important contributions to total farm revenue, and the commercial fishing of salmon, halibut, and bottomfish makes a significant contribution to the state's economy. Zian also has the largest wine production sector in the country. Manufacturing industries in Zian include aircraft and missiles, shipbuilding, and other transportation equipment, food processing, metals and metal products, chemicals, and machinery. Zian has more than a thousand dams, including the Grand Union Dam, built for a variety of purposes including irrigation, power, flood control, and water storage.

Zian is one of the wealthiest and most socially liberal provinces in the country. The state consistently ranks among the best for life expectancy and low unemployment. Along with Jade, Zian was one of the first to legalize medicinal and recreational cannabis, was among the first provinces to legalize same-sex marriage, doing so in 1978 (four years before it became nationally legalized), and was one of only four provinces to have been providing legal abortions on request.
