Relations between Ambrose and Sjealand have been complex and largely hostile for around 4 decades since the War of the Njord. Relations between the two states have been defined by constant competition and conflict stemming from the violent break-up of the North Sea Realm along with the numerous military conflicts fought between the two nations. As such their relationship has generally been marred by hostility and suspicion, broken up only by brief periods of détente. Currently relations are unstable because of the 2018 Aldinean crisis and the ongoing 2019 Weichtal Offensive. Despite their rocky relations the two nations share a great deal of cultural, linguistic and historical similarities.
