Dianqingshan Test Facility
The Dianqingshan Test Facility ("Indigo Mountain") is a large missile base and missile range operated by the Songhua Strategic Missile Troops in the Lushan Archipelago. Dianqingshan is located on an isolated volcanic island of the same name, and has a year-round population of both military personnel and associated civilians of around 70,000 people. Dianqingshan is used for missile testing and tracking, and also is believed to house a number of underground hardened silos for Songhua ICBMs in the Strategic Missile Troops' nuclear deterrent arsenal. The base has a port facility that can handle ships ranging in size from small skiffs to large container ships, and also has several submarine pens and launch pads for rockets intended to place payloads into orbit.
