English: General view of Arg-e Bam, or, Bam Citadel, the largest adobe building in the world and an UNESCO world heritage site, located in Bam, Kerman Province, southeastern Iran. The origin of this enormous citadel on the Silk Road can be traced back to the Achaemenid Empire (6th-4th centuries BC) and even beyond. The citadel was destroyed by the devastating 2003 Bam earthquake that cost over 26,000 lives and is being reconstructed since then.
