English: Frigate Artémise (1828)
Français : La frégate L'Artémise entrant à Tanoa, après son échouage. La frégate l’Artémise sur laquelle Cyrille Laplace fit le tour du monde entre 1834 et 1836. Sa mission était de s’opposer à l’expansion anglaise en Océanie. Son navire s’échoua à Tahiti du 23 mars au 22 juin 1839. Laplace profita de ce contretemps pour signer avec PomareIV une convention garantissant la liberté du culte catholique.
