The President-citizen of Emerstari (Emerstarian: Furstskeriksbor) is the Emerstarian citizenry's chief elected representative to the Emerstarian monarch. The President-citizen is elected to a four-year term via a first-past-the-post system and is primarily responsible for advancing the interests of the citizenry, reporting the affairs of government to the citizenry, and advising the monarch on the affairs of the citizenry. The office was estabished in 1756 and forty-six men have held the office forty-seven times, Hans Frederik Linddal having served two non-consecutive terms. Two President-citizens were either monarchs themselves or members of the Emerstarian royal family, including the first President-citizen, Olaf III Aleksender, and eight former President-citizens are currently alive; Georg Lukas Johannssen of the Kronsgille is the present President-citizen, elected in 2034.
