Nezyál (abbreviated NE) is a region of Gylias. Located in the east, it borders Arxaþ to the north, Herlan to the south, and Envadra to the west.
It is nicknamed "Gylias' lung" and "Pan's playground" due to most of its territory being occupied by protected areas, nature reserves, and national parks. The concentration of the population on the coast gives it one of the highest population densities among Gylian regions.
Geography
The region's territory is flat and dominated by the Niavelin plain, with mild hills near the east.
The Nazar river determines its boundaries with Envadra.
Demographics
The 2020 census recorded a population of 1.486.094. The only large city is Kyman, the capital and Gylias' third largest city. This concentration of population gives Nezyál a reputation as a region of "one city and a few villages".
The main Gylic peoples in the area are Varan, with a Zineran population in the north.
Economy
The region's economy revolves around industry and the service sector in Kyman, and agriculture in the rural areas.
Tourism is a major component of Nezyál's economy, mainly based around natural attractions.
Politics
The region's regional council is named the Nezyál Regional Council, and its regional party is named the Rally for Nezyál (French: Rassemblement pour Nezyál).
Nezyál is a notable stronghold of the non-inscrit left, with an "eccentric" reputation owed to Governors like Amanda Leloup (1970–1978) and Marzieh Keshavarzadeh (2010–2018).
