Sidi Synnia is an Special Autonomous Zone of Fahran, in the South of Tammuz. An important trade and financial hub in Sifhar, it has a high income economy with a population of 9 million. Synnia is known for it's unique socioeconomic model, as well as being a major financial and trade hub. The so called "Synnia Model" is unique for neither using the invisible hand of the market, nor government interventions but instead the state utilizing it's assets in the economy for public benefit while having low taxation.

The Synni economy is based around the knowledge and service sectors, focusing on fields like R&D, advanced industrial processes, engineering, trade, and finance. The majority of Sidi Synnia's economy is conglomerated into a few large state companies, the biggest of which is the conglomerate Sidi Etario and the state bank Sidi Ripaei. Foreign companies from Asura also use the country as their local Sifhari base. The countries stability and developed institutions makes it a major financial and shipping center. The economy enjoys steady growth rates, as well as low unemployment.

The Synnian government is unique in it's structure and ideology from most other Aeian countries. The countries official ideology is Technocracy, focusing on replacing 'parasitic' politicians and business people with educated technicians and engineers. The country does this through various corporates and councils of technicians who coordinate macro policies in various sectors. While in the 60s Synnia attempted to do away with the price system, the country moved to a more Post-Kenyesian approach of the state controlling finance to prevent financialization and marshal money in the most useful areas.

Sidi Synnia was founded in the 1750s by Midrasian explorers looking for important trade choke points. They signed a lease with the local Fahrani leadership to take the tiny territory. The territory underwent rapid expansion with thousands of Midrasians moving in, as the main point for connecting mainland Midrasia with it's Cataian colonies. Along with money from the mainland, the expansion saw the territory become some of the most wealthy parts of Sifhar. In the 1900s under the Midrasian National Coalition student unrest was channeled into the leftist student Technocratic Movement which led many student revolts against the National Coalition. An anti-imperialist movement, they wanted the decolonization of Synnia into an independent part of Fahran. In 1958 one of the most destructive riots was seen, allowing the new leftist Fahrani leader to occupy the territory. The Midrasia garrison was completely paralyzed and allowed the Fahrani army to march in and seize the territory. Midrasia unwilling to start a war gave the treaty over to Fahran as an autonomous region. Synnia would first attempt full nationalization and an end to the price system, but leader moved to a more capitalist developmentalist model.

Politics and Government

Sidi Synnia at least in theory is a Parliamentary Republic, with a unicameral legislature. The country is divided up into various voting districts who elect representives into the Agora of the Plebians, the countries legislature with around 200 seats. In practice the country is a single party state under the Avantist Technocratic Movement, the largest and most influential party that controls the legislature, executive, and judicial system. Sidi Synnia has been ranked as a "flawed democracy" by ++INSERT ORGANIZATION HERE+ with the Technocratic Movement has won every election with high margins since the 1930s when the Third Synni Republic was created. The Movement operates a large network of informal grassroots councils and organizations to further it's power and influence and owns Synnia24. Sidi Synnia has no clear constitution, with the state being structured based on various documents such as the White Paper of a New Synnia and The Declaration of the Republic of Synnia. The Technocratic Movement has suspended many of the rights granted in these documents due to Irsadic Terrorism in Sidi Synnia. This state of exception has been criticized by various human rights scholars and foreign journalists but the TM maintains the suppression is temporary and for the public good against so called "terrorist reactionaries".

Since taking power in the 1960s the Technocratic Movement has created a wide variety of informal organizations to expand local democracy and participation, the largest of which is the Orginize qui Serivice Societie, a state backed community service organization which all citizens are required to spend a year in at 18 years of age. A network of local confederal councils forms the basis for local governance, operating schools, hospitals and local services, using elections among relevant intellectuals to select council members. A network of Soviets is used to form the basic representation for the population, allowing them to voice their concerns.

The countries judicial system is divided between 2 parallel systems, the National Republican Court System of Sidi Synnia and the Synnian Revolutionary Tribunals. The NRCSSS operates on the basis of civil law, while the SRTs operate on a mixture of civil and common law. Most hearings are done through the NRCSSS, however political crimes, major white color crimes, corruption cases, etc are dealt through the SRTs. Complimenting the SRTs is the Avanti Revolutionary Forces, a special police force that effectively forms a parallel justice system. These are justified since the state sees itself as having a state of exception against corrupt elements of the old Republic, Irsadi terrorists, and reactionary forces against the soverign. The Synnian state operates a vast intelligence security apparatus as a result, with dimenshed human rights compared to other developed Aeian countries. Compared to other Sifahrian countries however Synnian human rights are quite exemplary.

Foreign Relations

Sidi Synnia has conducted a neural foreign policy since the Hisari Wars, not aligning with any blocs, and having cordial relations with most countries. Synnia maintains special relations with Habasha, and UVSS. It is a part of the Aeian Public Health Organization, and various Sifharic organizations as per the Kizilkand Agreements. The country is an advocate for increased non Asuran representation in the international sphere, and is heavily opposed to just wars by Asuran powers. It maintains a policy of non intervention, however has assisted in humanitarian crises by sending aid.
